New Years in Maldives ’18

I couldn’t quite believe, as I was sorting through my latest pictures and videos, that today, 08 February 2018, has been exactly a month since I visited this picture perfect place, The Maldives.

This was the one place that I had been counting down the days until! As I had been pushing through the freezing 1 degree weather in London over the past 6 months… so, yes! it was definitely so worth the count down.

Not only was I lacking major vitamin D but I was in desperate need of relaxation after working in London! LOOK NO FURTHER if you’re in need of a good few days/ couple of weeks of doing absolutely nothing but switching off to your daily life and technology,  then this will definitely be a good option for your next destination.

My family and I went to Club Med, Kani Island, an island which has everything… literally everything to offer!

At Club Kani, you have options of starting your morning off with either a Pilates session on the beach, Yoga, Running, Gym ( located right on the beach, as shown below)

The afternoons become very interactive between guests and staff, as they have friendly Water Polo, Volley Ball and Sailing competitions, Water Aerobics classes, Zumba and Snorkelling, where you go boating to different reefs and you’re accompanied by guests and staff from Club Med Kani (FYI the Club Med staff are the friendliest and most enthusiastic people I’ve ever come across)

The evenings at Club Kani were one of my favourite parts of my holiday! After a full day of sun bathing and activities, there would be a buffet of snacks and drinks at the beach bar with my favourite couple seranading us in the background with mellow tunes… just what you need to wined down.

Then off to dinner where every evening has a theme; first it made getting ready very easy, as I didn’t have to decide what to wear and second, the staff put so much time and effort into making each evening feel so special with their food displays, buffets of food; Indian, Italian, Chinese and the list goes on! AND lets not forget the good stuff… The delicious cocktails, wine, shots, sodas you name it, they’ve got it! (All inclusive) And to top it off every evening the staff members put on a show, according to the theme that night! And that’s really when the evening begins 😉

My highlight had to be New Years Eve! A night where the whole Club Kani team left us speechless and sure made us start the new year off with a real BANG!!! From the food, which was a spread to die for! To the display where “Happy New Year” was carved into fruits, desserts etc and then to the most incredible display of fireworks! And of course lets not forget the champagne fountain!

As much as your days can be busy, you also have those lazy days (most people on New Years Day) where you decide to spend your day soaking up the sun and enjoying a fantastic spa treatment (Quilty)!

And then of course there are a few excursions, which one may like to do and will cost you a little… my family and I decided to go on an excursion where we snorkelled around different reefs and visited an island, where we learned about the Maldivian culture and went to see the local school, beaches, how to drink from a coconut etc. However Club Med does do fun little competitions where you’re able to win an excursion, which I was lucky enough to have won, tubing for 3 people around the island!

“The only chair u will remember for the rest of your life”

I can’t believe I’m saying this… but I couldn’t agree more with a chair!! Maldives was one of the few holidays where I could switch off completely and really be in the moment, memories that I made with my family, which I will cherish forever! This is one holiday destination where you’ll go and once you leave you’ll already be planning your next trip back!

Enough with the talking! Here’s a Vlog of my adventure in Maldives! Enjoy xxx
